چکیده

Amodel for torsional vibration of slender thin-walled tubes with constrained-layer dampers is developed. Assuming that the deformation obeys the Saint-Venant hypotheses, we develop a model suitable for prediction of the complex stiffness per unit length in closed, thin-walled tubes whose walls consist of laminated elastic and viscoelastic layers, and formulate a boundary-value problem for the warping deformations arising under Saint-Venant torsion. For some basic cross-sectional shapes, we solve the warping problem and thence obtain closed-form expressions for the complex stiffness per unit length. Next, we provide some guidelines for the design of tubes with high damping in torsion. Finally, we compare the damping predicted by the model to measurements performed on a simple structure. r 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Nonlocal Vibration Behavior of a Viscoelastic SLGS Embedded on Visco- Pasternak Foundation Under Magnetic Field

This paper is concerned with the surface and small scale effects on transverse vibration of a viscoelastic single-layered graphene sheet (SLGS) subjected to an in-plane magnetic field. The SLGS is surrounded by an elastic medium which is simulated as Visco-Pasternak foundation. In order to investigate the small scale effects, the nonlocal elasticity theory is employed due to its simplicity and ...

In this article, dynamic modeling of double walled cylindrical functionally graded (FG) microshell is studied. Size effect of double walled cylindrical FG microshell are investigated using modified couple stress theory (MCST). Each layer of microshell is embedded in a viscoelastic medium. For the first time, in the present study, has been considered, FG length scale parameter in double walled c...
